Frequently Asked Questions

Isn't this the same as glamping?

Camp After Dark is different from glamping. Our focus is on romantic and restorative experiences with personal touches that reflect our guests' needs and preferences. We provide traditional and upscale camping setups with additional options to meet every budget.

Where is Camp After Dark located?

Camp After Dark serves guests from New York City, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and surrounding areas. Campgrounds are selected in scenic, private, and peaceful locations that are within our guest's preferred travel radius. In some cases, a Camp After Dark experience can take place in the comfort of your backyard.

What if I've never been camping before?

Experience is not necessary! We provide everything you need for a smooth and enjoyable stay. You may also request beginner-friendly add ons and tutorials and optional on-site concierge service to help make your stay more enjoyable.

What safety measures are in place?

We carefully inspect and sanitize equipment, monitor weather conditions, and provide emergency instructions. All guests must sign a waiver prior to their stay. As with any public space, always be aware of your surroundings and secure your valuables.

Why can't I get a refund if I cancel within 5 days of my scheduled stay?

Because each Camp After Dark experience is carefully prepared in advance, cancellations within 5 days of your scheduled date are not eligible for a refund.  By that time, we’ve already reserved your private site, purchased supplies specific to your getaway, and scheduled logistical support and travel.

These costs are non-refundable to us as a business, so we ask for your understanding. We're happy to offer rescheduling options, when possible, depending on availability.

To help protect your travel plans, we recommend purchasing travel insurance or cancellation protection through your provider of choice in case of unexpected changes or emergencies.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend bringing weather-appropriate clothing like a sweater/hoodie (it can get chilly at night or early in the morning), personal toiletries, medications, sunscreen, and any favorite snacks or beverages.  If you intend to do any hiking, horseback riding, swimming, etc. (location specific) during your stay, we recommend you bring appropriate footwear and gear.

How will I know at which campsite I will be staying and is parking available?

Guests are notified in advance with directions for the campsite and parking instructions.  You will either be greeted at the campground office, guided to your tent from the front entrance, or we will meet you at your designated campsite.

Is Camp After Dark GLBT-friendly?

Camp After Dark proudly welcomes guests of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Whether you’re coming solo or with a partner, we offer an inclusive space designed for adults to relax, reconnect, and enjoy nature on their own terms. We believe everyone deserves a romantic escape or recharge without judgment.

Is Wi-Fi service available?

Most of our campgrounds are in semi-remote areas and may have limited or no Wi-Fi and cell service. We encourage guests to unplug and enjoy a digital detox.

What happens if it rains during my stay?

Our tents are weather-resistant and designed to handle moderate rain. For added protection, your tent(s) may be covered with waterproof tarps. We monitor forecasts closely and will notify you in advance if any adjustments or rescheduling are necessary due to severe weather conditions.

Can I bring alcohol and/or smoke?

Yes, you may bring your own alcohol as long as you are 21 or older and drink responsibly. We encourage moderation and ask that all guests respect quiet hours and maintain the peaceful nature of the campgrounds. Guests who become unruly or disruptive will be asked to leave the campground. Refunds will not be issued.

Our regular tents are kept smoke-free so they stay fresh and inviting for future guests. This includes tobacco, herbal products, and other substances regardless of their legality. But, if you’d like to enjoy a cozy evening with a glass of wine and your favorite smoke, we offer smoke-friendly tents for an additional fee. Guests are responsible for following the state and local laws and guidelines during their stay.  Please choose a smoke tent option when booking.
